    Gabe ... CcV's Retro Gentleman

Gabe was interviewed by Consignment's cousin Vintage (CcV) for its "For Retro Gentlemen" segment.

In a gamification world enclosed within an unbelievably awesome workspace, Gabe shows CcV some classic Members Only jackets while educating us on some amazing sci-fi history. With a look similar to Austin Powers, Gabe definitely puts the "R" in retro ... with a rocker feel to him.

Gabe is the co-owner of the Super Group which is an interactive marketing agency that blends creative ideas with the latest technology to drive entertaining and memorable new media promotions.

Watch the video and let us know what vintage pieces you like of Gabe's the most.

If Gabe reaches 50 comments by February 28th, he'll select a lucky "commenter" to win a $25 gift card/certificate to the resale store of their choice on February 29th! (leave your name and email address when commenting)

Consignment's cousin Vintage has been highlighting some current Retro Gentlemen that appreciate many things of the past but it's time we love on the men who wore a lot of what we rock now when they were new.

So, with that being said ... who do you think is hotter? Dubois or Brando?

    Adam ... CcV's Retro Gentleman

Adam was interviewed by Consignment's cousin Vintage (CcV) for its "For Retro Gentlemen" segment.

With a close resemblance to his father's 1970s photos and a loft deliciously draped in antique finds recommended by his Mom, Adam attributes his love for vintage items to his parents. Adam takes CcV on a tour of his awesome loft while hipping us to some lost jewels of the '90s.

Adam works with Mowgli which is a company that specializes in Gamification. Mowgli will soon release Songster which is a Facebook game that allows users to create their own songs! I tried it in beta and it is a lot of fun.

Watch the video and let us know what vintage pieces you like of Adam's the most.

If Adam reaches 50 comments by January 31st, he'll select a lucky "commenter" to win a $10 gift card/certificate to the resale store of their choice on February 1st! (leave your name and email address when commenting)

Enjoy a backstage pass to Songster which is still in beta.

A couple of more mins. spent in the closet would have been great too, but overall great interview! Christina (essenceofcaramel@hotmail.com)

    44. The hypercolor shirt wins the coolness points, but in terms of what I'd actually wear or use, I also like stuff that has a personal story behind it, like that belonged t a family member, so his father's briefcase is my favorite (I wouldn't have much to do with the handkerchief, so...). But yeah, like the others said, nice pad! And as for Adam's comment above about this jacket, one of my all-time favorites is one I bought at a flee market in Berlin...

Very Classic Men's Look. Shawn gives some great advice on vintage shopping and styling for Men. His look reminds me of this store in Savannah, the Stagg Shopp in the old mall (I mean, Oglethorpe Mall). I think the Stagg Shopp did an injustice by catering to the "HipHopVideoDrugBoy" - sorry, that's my opinion. This is truly a look from the racks of the 1980-90's of theS.S.

    1. watched the video...i love the idea miss b! i will be on the hunt for recruits.
hamzat was rocking those specs first and foremost! i really digged the pants also. i think each piece of clothing he wore was nice and simple. i myself would have subtracted some of the jewelry...to no more than two braclets...but who am i?
i appreciate unique style as well as reduce..REUSE..recycle :) heehee. overall i'd give this look a thumbs up. thread zeppelin off of flat shoals in east atlanta is also a great spot for vintage attire.

    20. Great interview. The concept of Vintage can never die! Bro. Sani has a Powerful Style. Simple and Authentic.
My first experience with Vintage mens clothing started at about 19yrs old in Cincinnati, Oh. I went in and "bam" I was sold on the tailored, original pieces. Have not stopped since that day to make Vintage as part of my Style of Life!
If we went more Vintage, we could change our economic Reality as a Community!

    24. I'm such a fan of style and not so much fashion and i think that what Hamzat presents is all the way 100% style that is authentic to him! I'm sure he has an ever flowing style that allows him to take on varying looks and we all know thrifting allows for that. I look forward to seeing this cat in the streets to see what he will be sprotin'. ANd yo, HAM can i get a thrifting day with you? :)

    25. Ham! I actually used to go shopping with Hamzat when I lived in Atlanta. It was wonderful to see his style change over the years, and I think that is what vintage shopping allows for really, is the ability to mix and match and change based on how you are feeling and as you grow because of the variety of styles available. The point of fashion no matter what the cost, is to maintain a unique personality through outward appearance, and anything vintage done well, will be unique and trend-setting. Congrats Ham, I look forward to the years to come.

    Making CcV better!

What do you think of the Consignment's cousin Vintage site?

What do you like and/or how can we make it better? Constructive criticism is welcomed!

We have some awesome ideas we plan to manifest from now through next summer and your opinion matters.

Our goal is to increase your use of our re-sale store directory ... let us know how to do that.

    1. I wish this site was statewide or better yet nationwide! I'd settle for a site here in Savannah. :-) I love anything and everything that has a story! Vintage items bring life back to ordinary outfits, rooms, events...it's so inspiring. It allows our imaginations to run free with wonder of it's previous life. Let's not forget the thrill of the hunt! I love the high I get when I find a one of a kind item. Words just can't express how it feels!

Keep up the great work...it's inspiring!

    3. I am a newbie to the world of thrifting. Over the weekend I noticed lots of people rocking unique pieces. One friend had on the cutest pink blazer. I ran up to her and asked where she got it and she told me a consignment shop. Then she went on to tell me that her jeans and shoes came from a vintage shop as well. I really need to check out thrifting :).

    6. We hit the hills this weekend to do some apple picking. While winding up some old country roads we stopped off at a yard sale that these 3 elderly ladies were hosting. For the last month or so I have been surfing craigslist for antique ladderback chairs. So what do I see.....4 mid-century danish looking ladderback chairs!! Not only are they a beautiful wood with a seat cushion that will be simple to recover with some fabric and a staple gun, but they were asking 20bucks for all 4. I felt like I was robbing the elderly so we shopped around and my daughter found a couple of brooches she liked and also some Asian, mother of pearl wall panels for all under $25!! I wish we lived closer because she wanted us to come for tea and see ALL the years of stuff she had stored away that she wanted to sell. G-d Bless you Ms. Jean!!

    5. I really like Looks 2 &4 best! The grey suits are classy and versatile to wear. There are so many style possibilities that you can add to these suits i.e. plaid or pinstriped dress shirts and a nice vibrant tie to accomadate the style you choose. I personally prefer more classy, professional/simple clothing that I can spice up as desired.

    6. I live in suitlandia (aka tokyo) so I'm always drawn to what can be done with a suit. I prefer Look 4 to Look 2 because the grey suit is lovely and easy to work with! The nerdboy Look 6 is also precious, but I only know a handfull of guys who could pull off that styling. -alana

    8. I liked looks 4 & 7 (after). I would kind of go for the before look of #3. Many of the after looks took away some of the guys' masculinity (which I love). I feel that 4 & 7 maintain a good level of masculinity.

Foxy Blanche went Cincinnati Thrifting for CcV

I went to see my family in the Queen City ... Cincinnati that is. Okay, so in Cincinnati (actually Kentucky) there is the king of all Gap Outlets. I got some great finds that I'm pretty proud of. A lot of Old Navy, Banana Republic, Gapkids and Gap stores shipped damaged and unsold sales items to this huge location ... it is a bargain hunters dream. Also, I went to a Goodwill my Grandma and I love to go to and it was half off of pretty much everything! I got some awesome t-shirts and jeans (5 t's and a pair of jeans) for under $15. Let me know if I should post photos!

    1. Hey family, I'm from Cincinnati and I love a name brand with flare and a pretty low price. I'm the master at finding great deals, not only in malls but outlets like Foxy said. Gap, in particular, is one of my favorite outlet stores by far. I helped a friend who had been currently laid off and her son with some items for summer/fall. I spent under 100 bucks and walked out with trunks, 6 sweaters, a couple of button down shirts, 4 t-shirts, and few pairs of jeans. The good thing was what they consider "damaged" only requires a button to be sewn on and that makes you feel like you doing something illegal because it's such a steal!!!! Northside and Clifton are also good spots for vintage, consignment items also. Shopping in Cincy is such therapy....when you get a boat load of stuff and still have money in your pocket. -Kristen S.
